San Marcos Softball Splits Last Two Games at Manlet Tournament

San Marcos slugged three home runs in a 6-4 win over Santa Paula at the Simi Valley Manlet Softball Tournament on Saturday.
The Royals lost their next game to Kennedy, 6-3, on a three-run homer in the fourth inning.
Emma Foster hit a solo homer and Tiana Monaghan had a RBI triple in the first inning. Caitlyn Early hit a two-run homer and Cassandra Perez had a run-scoring single in the third for a 5-0 lead.
Santa Paula scored four runs in the top of the fourth, but San Marcos got an insurance run in the fifth on a solo homer by Monaghan.
Gigi Gritt pitched her second complete game in two days and went 2 for 6 at the plate with a triple.
Against Kennedy, Kate Guerra and Foster hit back-to-back doubles to break a 2-2 tie and give San Marcos a 3-2 lead.
Kennedy took the lead in the top of the fourth on a three-run homer.
San Marcos (3-5) didn’t score in the bottom of the innning and the game ended due to the 90-minute time limit.
Foster had a solid day, going 3 for 5, with a homer and two RBI. She also made several running catches, including a dibing catch on a blooper over second base against Kennedy.
Early had three hits, including a homer, and three RBI. Monaghan had a triple and a homer.
