San Marcos Softball Goes 1-1 at Camarillo Tournament

San Marcos softball went on an offensive tear in the first game at the Camarillo Tournament, beating West Ranch, 20-2.

The Royals’ attack was cooled off by Saugus in their second game, a 9-4 loss.

In the opener, San Marcos banged out 25 hits in a four-inning time-limit win. Caitlyn Early and Emma Foster were both 4 for 5, with Early hitting a home run and two doubles and drive in four runs. Foster had a triple and two RBIs.

Gigi Gritt, Kate Guerra, Charlotte Hastings and Jessica Vega all went 3-4, with Vega collecting a triple and two RBIs and Hastings getting three RBIs.

In the second game, Early and Foster each had two hits, and Early hit her second homer of the day.

On the day, Early was 6-9 with two home runs, two doubles, six RBIs and five runs scored. Foster was 6-8 with a triple, two RBIs, a stolen base and three runs scored.

San Marcos (7-6 overall) plays Rio Mesa at home on Tuesday in a Channel League game.
