Strong pitching powered San Marcos softball to a 5-0 victory over Ventura on Monday at home.
Kate Guerra and Lucy Dessert combined for the shutout, with Guerra tossing four innings and striking out six while Dessert closed it out with three scoreless frames.
Offensively, Emma Foster and Tiana Monaghan led the way with Foster driving in a pair of runs with a triple and a double and Monaghan going 3-for-3 on the day.
Meanwhile, Kamilah Morales flashed the leather for the Royals with several strong plays.
The Royals (6-1, 2-0 Channel League) will take on Dos Pueblos on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at home.
