Rio Mesa 11 San Marcos 2
The Royals dropped their second matchup of the week to the Spartans on Wednesday after the first game went 11 innings.
“I think we were still a bit emotionally and physically drained from that first game,” San Marcos coach Emily Dietz said. “We just gave them too many opportunities with errors and walking batters at bad times.”
Rio Mesa got the bulk of their runs thanks to a seven-run second inning, and they had control of the game from there.
The two runs for the Royals came courtesy of a two-RBI single off the bat of Solana Sandoval in the sixth inning.
Sandoval and Caitlyn Early tallied two hits for San Marcos in the loss.
The Royals will compete in the CIF playoffs beginning next week.
