Tiana Monaghan and Kamilah Morales each collected two hits, and San Marcos held off Cabrillo for a 5-3 win in a Channel League softball game on Tuesday in Lompoc.

The Royals were leading 5-1 going into the sixth. Caitlyn Early had a RBI sacrifice fly, Iza Velasquez hit a two-run single, Cassandra Perez collected a RBI single and Monaghan scored a run off an error.

Cabrillo picked up a run in the sixth and the first batters singled in the bottom of the seventh. The Conquistadores scored a run after a dropped third strike to make it 5-3.

Kate Guerra came in to pitch for starter  Gigi Gritt and she retired the next three batters to preserve the win.

“Seven players collected at least one hit, so it was a team effort today, with everyone contributing,” said coach Jeff Swann.

San Marcos is 3-1 in league and 4-5 overall.
